A glass raised at midnight. A circle gathered. And the hope that someone—or something—might answer.
In the late nineteenth century, as the Gilded Age transformed American life with extraordinary wealth, innovation and social change, fascination with Spiritualism and communication with the dead flourished. Séances found their way into private parlors and drawing rooms, where guests gathered around darkened tables hoping for a sign from beyond. The Midnight Gathering imagines one such evening.
Inspired by the séance at the heart of The Midnight Gathering, this 10.5 oz rocks glass brings a piece of the story from the estate table into your own home.
Its wraparound artwork reveals pieces of the story. At the front, an enigmatic Victorian woman wears an elaborate chatelaine at her waist, its suspended objects reimagined as the tools and talismans of a woman drawn to Spiritualism. Turn the glass and discover the words of The Midnight Gathering alongside an intricate daisy wheel, an ancient protective motif historically found carved into buildings and sometimes interpreted as an apotropaic mark intended to guard against evil or misfortune.
Here, the wheel becomes a symbol of protection for those seated around the séance table—a safeguard between the living and whatever might answer from beyond.
Crafted from sturdy, quality glass with a timeless silhouette, it is made for whiskey, bourbon, an old fashioned, or your favorite evening cocktail. Display it on a bar cart or pour something worthy of midnight and imagine yourself seated among the guests as the candles burn low.
History. Mystery. Company Always Welcome.
